In North Kivu, ActionAiD DRC's Socio-Economic Reinsertion Program, funded by UNFPA as part of the "Prevention and multisectoral emergency response to gender-based violence in the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu", stands as a beacon of hope, addressing critical issues such as gender-based violence (GBV) and food insecurity, and empowering individuals to build resilience against life's challenges.

Marie (not her real name), a woman whose journey reflects the transformative impact of the program. As an internally displaced person (IDP) and a GBV survivor, she found herself at the crossroads of despair and uncertainty. However, through the support and guidance of ActionAid DRC, she discovered a path towards empowerment and renewal.

"The skills I've learned through the program have not only changed my life but have given me the strength to dream again," shares Marie , her eyes gleaming with newfound hope.

"I can provide for my family and contribute to my community in meaningful ways," reflects Marie, her eyes shining with pride and gratitude. "I am reclaiming my dignity and my voice," shares Marie. With every bead she weaves and every product she sells, she is not just generating income; she is reclaiming her place in society. Through sustainable livelihood initiatives, participants are not only breaking free from the shackles of poverty but are also becoming agents of change within their communities.

Marie 's story echoes the sentiments of countless individuals whose lives have been touched by the Socio-Economic Reinsertion Programs implemented by ActionAid DRC.
