In the aftermath of the severe flooding that affected Kinshasa in April 2025, ActionAid DRC, with funding from Start Ready, launched an emergency response to support the hardest-hit communities in the Limete commune. As part of their commitment to accountability and learning, a delegation from Start Ready visited the project sites in Ndanu and Salongo from 11–12 June 2025 to witness the impact of the intervention and engage with beneficiaries

Following the devastating floods that struck Kinshasa in April 2025, ActionAid DRC implemented an emergency response project funded by Start Ready to support the most affected communities in Ndanu and Salongo. From 11 to 12 June, a delegation from the Start Ready team visited the project sites to observe the impact of the intervention and engage directly with beneficiaries.
Project Achievements
- A total of 1,380 vulnerable households received multi-purpose cash assistance to help meet urgent needs such as food, healthcare, and shelter.
- More than 5,000 households were provided with access to safe drinking water through the distribution of AQUATABS.
- Over 50 meters of protective dike were reinforced along the Ndjili River to safeguard lives and property against future flooding.
- A series of community-led resilience activities were conducted, including hygiene promotion, risk mapping, and early warning awareness.
